John, 13, Leicester

Excuse the fact that I look like I was being posy.
I actually wasn't.

Can you believe he's only 13? An incredibly sophisticated look for someone who's barely scraping teenage, if you ask me. The way he oozes retro vibes makes me love him even more. At this point, I do wish to point out that he is in fact my little brother. See the family resemblance?

Ok, so it's a bad photo.
You'll have to take my word for it.

Anyway, as it is about -3°c in Leicester today, one simply must wrap up warm due to the possibility of limb loss through frost bite. I love the cut of John's coat as it is flattering as well as a timeless classic and warm. He reminds me of a 1960's Mod here actually, which is a good thing by the way. I like the pinks and purples in his scarf too as it injects a bit of interesting colour into his otherwise monochrome outfit. I think the fact that he isn't afraid to wear pink is good as it shows that he isn't troubled by what people might think. This, ladies and gents, is the key to fashion. I have seen many people in my time that are brave with their appearance and the outcome is almost always fantastic. This is also shown with his hair (which is ridiculously similar to mine). Bowl cut? No. Work of art? I think so.
Houndstooth Check Trouser.
Brilliant.
Moving on. Simply by adding even a small pattern to one's attire, you can really make it your own and look different to the crowd. Smart trousers also give the outfit an alternative, classy feel to jeans, yet not always better I must say. Classy providing that they are not teamed with trainers that is. Anyone who's reading this and thinking to themselves 'Well, I do that'...Don't.  Just don't. Thankfully, John has invested in a  pair of beautiful, smart vintage shoes and I think that they just round the whole thing off nicely. Along with his glasses that is. Just for the record, they are his actual glasses.

Children In Need: £115!

You may not know this yet, but I am known by my friends and recognised by people around school as ‘the one that dresses a bit weird’, probably amongst some other slightly more offensive things. At any one time I can have as many as about twelve different colours and six different layers on. I wear whatever I please and I don’t care about what people think, but for one day only on Friday 19th November 2010, I dressed like everyone else: Ugg boots and all.
I never leave the house without my over-exaggerated eyeliner and bright red lipstick, massive mismatched earrings and so much jewellery that I make pimps jealous, but I left it all at home to help the children that are less fortunate than myself. I left all colour (and with it a little bit of personality) back in my wardrobe and spent the day in black and dark blue.
Now, due to my usual trick of wearing excessive amounts of colour, people were finding it difficult to imagine an ‘average Bethany-Grace’ and were therefore willing to pay plenty of money to see it. Thanks to the curious nature of the human race, those children in need are now over £115 better off. Well done everyone and thanks for your donations!

P.S.
It was OK though as I got to dress as Elly Jackson from La Roux the next day at my friend’s party, so it sort of made up for it. This is me doing my surly Elly Expression with my friend Ellen who was Robin Hood/Peter Pan/An Elf.

And We're Off! - Tasha, 16, Leicester

This lovely lady is officially my first ever victim! Mwahaha!
Ok, so maybe I cheated ever just a teeny weeny bit. We do happen to be life long friends but I love her style never the less. This photo was taken outside of the Highcross Shopping Centre, Leicester and despite the cold, she is still looking rather tasteful.
Right, well, firstly, I love her leggings. How can you not? They are a blue and gold/silver damask and certainly not for the faint hearted. She has then teamed it with a simple white T-Shirt layered with a cropped blue wooly jumper so as not to over complicate the look, which works very well by the way.
I love her military style winter-coat too; practical AND fashionable. Take note. Yes, you know who I'm talking to. Those of you that will sacrafice a limb or two to frost bite in the name of style.

As you may notice as time goes by, I am ever so slightly obsessed with all things Vintage, so I was extra chuffed when I noticed her beautiful tan-leather satchel bag that came ready with years of history behind it. And, just because she is a legend, she has topped (or rather bottomed) it all off with a pair of All Stars. Brilliant.

Well, One Simply Has To Start Somewhere...

Designer fashion is brilliant, don't get me wrong, and highstreet fashion isn't all that bad either, but quite frankly, its the people walking the highstreets that I find most fascinating. Many a time have I stood and gawped at someone because they have an amazing sense of style (hence, many a time have I looked a terrible fool). There are so many people that merely stick to the trends, which is fine by all means, but it just makes it even more refreshing to see someone with a bit of imagination. Personally, I think that these civilians that roam our streets looking gorgeous should be taken notice of. So, armed with camera and compliments, I plan to head out into the world and capture every fashion gem I find (with their permission, obviously, or else that would be a bit wierd) and I'm doing it all for you... well, me a little bit, but mainly you.
